ABS One is the flagship television channel of the ABS in the Anglath. It was launched on November 2nd, 1936 as the ABS Television Service. It was renamed ABS TV in 1960, using this name until the launch of sister channel ABS2 in 1964, whereupon the ABS TV channel became known as ABS1, with the current spelling adopted in 1997. Its main competitors are ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5. The Anglatish Broadcasting System  ( ABS ), established as the Anglatish Broadcasting Company in 1922, is the national broadcaster of the Anglath. Headquartered at Broadcasting House in Lurnstone, it is the world's oldest national broadcaster and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees, employing over 22,000 staff in total, of whom approximately 19,000 are in public-sector broadcasting. The ABS is established under a royal charter and operates under its agreement with the secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport. Its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee which is charged to all Anglatish Broadcasting System households, companies and organisations using any type of equipment to receive or record live television broadcasts and iPlayer catch-up.
