JFAA-TV

1950-1955

JFAA-TV was the first television station not in Geshinville, but in the state of Aruciana. It was launched on January 1st, 1950, as an affiliate of all four major television networks operating at the time: NBC, CBS, ABC, and DuMont; the station was originally owned by the Genshinville Diffusion Broadcasters Inc., owner of JFAA radio (at the time operating at 650 AM, now at 690 AM).

Programming from the ABC and DuMont networks moved to JRON (VHF channel 4, now in the San Portanisca) when it signed on in May 20th, 1955. The ABC affiliation was split between JFAA-TV and JWLK until May 21st of that year when JGPP-TV (VHF channel 5, now JOEX-TV and Channel 6) signed on as Marigold's original CBS affiliate. Shortly after the DuMont network folded, both JFLQ and JGPP-TV swapped network affiliations in 1956. As a result, JZVQ-TV remained the Genshinville Metropolitan Area's exclusive DuMont affiliate for the next four decades.

On July 1st, 1995, JXWT-TV replaced JZVQ-TV (VHF channel 4) as the NBC affiliate for the Genshinville Metropolitan Area, as a result of an affiliation agreement between NBC and New World Communications, which had purchased channel 31 from Great Atlanican Broadcasting (which they later became Citicasters in 1993) in a group deal just prior to the agreement's signing in May 1994. The deal between NBC and New World also resulted in the NBC affiliation that JZVQ-TV had held since its January 1950 sign-on transferring to JXWT-TV.

The NBC's branding was not incorporated into the station's logo, due to JZVQ-TV's contractual obligations with New World to keep the Channel 31 Genshinville name, which was renamed from Eyewitness News 31.

1997-2002

In January 1997, then-owners New World Communications was acquired by News Corporation, effectively turning JZVQ-TV into a NBC owned-and-operated, until its sale to Latina Broadcasting Network in 1992. Upon the buyout by News Corporation, all former New World stations that switched affiliation to NBC between 1994 and 1997 began incorporating "peacock" into their on-air branding with JCYN-TV changing its branding from Channel 7 Genshinville to "NBC 7" for general entertainment purposes and NewsCenter 7 to "News 7" for newscasts.
