Nortário is one of the 31 federative units in Donica, being located in the within the Donica geopolitical region classified as the Center-West, being established in 1753 after being emancipated from Mato Cruzçado.

Its capital and largest city is Jauziçuxa and its current Governor is César Dyer (DSDP), with Ricardo Dias Pereira (DODE) as its Vice Governor, being part of the DSDP-MDD-UNIÃO-DSD-DODE-Cidadania-DC-DMN coalition.
